The Windows SMBv3 Vulnerability report is a filtered version of the Operating Systems report. You can use this report in conjunction with the Enable or Disable SMBv3 Compression script to protect your devices from a Windows security vulnerability.
On March 12th, 2020, Microsoft released a patch for a security vulnerability related to the remote execution of Microsoft Server Message Block v3 (SMBv3). The vulnerability affects Windows 10 release IDs 1903 and 1909. To mitigate the risk associated with this vulnerability until you can successfully deploy the patch to your affected devices, it's best practice to run the Enable or Disable SMBv3 Compression script on all devices in the Windows SMBv3 Vulnerability report.
To run the script on your affected Windows devices:
- On the navigation bar, click Reports.
-
In the page's Search Reports field, enter the name of the report. The report list updates dynamically as you type.
Alternatively, if you want to find the report by first filtering the report list, click the view or report category associated with the report.
-
Click Windows SMBv3 Vulnerability to open the report.
The report is filtered to show only those devices that meet the following filter criteria:
- Agent status is Active and
- OS release ID (numeric) is 1903 or 1909 and
- OS update build revision (numeric) is less than 720 and
- Platform type is Windows
- Select all devices in the report by selecting the check box next to Device name.
- Click Run Script. For more information, see Running scripts.
- In the Search field, enter SMBv3 and then select Enable or Disable SMBv3 Compression.
- Under Set Script Configurations, enter Disable in the EnableDisable field.
- Click Run Script.
The Script request is submitted. To track the progress of your request, see Action History.
After you have successfully deployed the Windows patch to your devices to fix this security vulnerability, you can enable SMBv3 compression by running the Enable or Disable SMBv3 Compression script again. This time, enter Enable in the EnableDisable field.
