Viewing installed applications

The Application Summary page shows the applications installed on your active Windows and Mac devices only.

To detect the applications installed on your devices, the Installed Applications policy needs to be activated in one or more policy groups.

To view the Application Summary page, your user role needs to be granted View permissions for Software reports. All default user roles are granted this permission.

On the navigation bar, click Applications > Summary. The Application Summary page opens.

No filters are applied to the page, but you can refine the application list by adding filters based on the application name, device group, and publisher.

The Application Summary page includes application-related information, presented in the following columns:

How frequently is data collected from a device?

Absolute applies normalization to all publisher and application names that are detected on your devices. Normalization removes the naming inconsistencies that may exist within installed software, making it easier to search, filter, sort, and analyze your devices' applications in the Secure Endpoint Console. It also aggregates the data leading to more accurate reporting results.

For example, if the detected publisher for an installed Windows application is Microsoft Corporation, while another Windows application is Microsoft Corp., the normalized publisher name Microsoft is used for both applications.

Similarly, if the detected application name on one device is SecureDoc Disk Encryption 8.3 (x64), while another is SecureDoc Disk Encryption (x86) 7.5, the normalized application name SecureDoc Disk Encryption is used for both devices.

Normalization is applied to all publisher and application names shown on the Applications page and each application's device list view page. Normalized application names are also shown in the Application report column. You can add this column to most application reports and pages using the icon.

Detected application names are shown in the Application name report column. This column is shown by default in the Installed Applications report and on a device's Applications tab in Device Details.

You can work with the Application Summary page in the following ways:

Searching for an application

You can search for an application by application name, version number, or publisher.

To search for an application, enter all or part of the keyword in the search field and click Search or press Enter.

Sorting application information

By default, the page's data is sorted by the Installed column, in descending order. To sort the data by another column, click the column heading. To reverse the sort order, click the column heading again.

Favoriting applications

You can favorite the applications that you're most interested in:

• To favorite an application, click its (Add to Favorites) icon in the first column. The icon updates to (Remove from Favorites).
• To only show your favorite applications, select the Only show favorites checkbox in the top right of the page. To show all applications again, clear the checkbox. Note that your selected view persists across user sessions until you change it.
• To remove an application from your favorites, click its (Remove from Favorites) icon. The icon updates to (Add to Favorites).

Managing columns

You can change the information shown on the page by updating its columns:

• To remove columns that you want to hide, click > Edit columns.
• To save your changes and create a custom view of the page, click > Save columns. Your custom view persists until you revert to the page's default view.
• To revert to default view, click > Reset columns.

Exporting the Application Summary page

You can export the Application Summary page to a report in CSV, Excel, or XML format. If desired, you can filter the page before exporting it.

To export the page, click (Export).

Application version numbers are not included in the exported report.

Refreshing the data

While you are viewing a page or report, its data is not updated dynamically as new data becomes available. To show the most recent data available in the system, such as information that was just uploaded from a device, click the icon in the bottom left of the page. The Last updated field updates to the current date and time.

This section only applies if an Absolute Resilience product1 Excludes the following products: Absolute Resilience for Education, Absolute Resilience for Student Devices, and Absolute Resilience for Chromebook. is associated with your account.

On the Application Summary page, you can view summarized information about an application without leaving the page.

To do so, search for the application and click the background of its row. A dialog opens to the right of the grid showing the following information:

• Application name
• Publisher
• Count of detected versions
• Count of installations

  To view more detailed information about the application's installations, click View Application.

• Installation Summary: contains three charts showing the overall state of all installations of the application

  Chart	Description
  Installed	Shows the percentage of devices that the application is installed on Hover over each section to view the number of devices with the application installed, or not installed. The total device count shown in this chart reflects the total devices in all policy groups where at least one application policy is activated. Note that any Chromebook devices in these policy groups are included in the total device count.
  Compliant (only visible when one or more application policies are active)	Shows the compliance status breakdown across all installations based on the active application policies listed under Application Policies Application compliance statuses Status Details Compliant Indicates that all requirements set in active application policies have been met and the device's application installation is deemed to be compliant Non-compliant Indicates that one or more requirements set in active application policies have not been met and the device's application installation is deemed to be non-compliant No policy Indicates that no application policy is currently applied to the device for this application Unknown Indicates that an application compliance status could not be calculated About the Unknown status Application compliance information is unavailable and a status of Unknown is reported when there is an issue with the application's installation, such as: The Secure Endpoint Agent can't find or access the installation location. The installation was not completed successfully. The percentage of compliant installations shows in the center of the chart. Hover over a section to view the count of devices with each status.
  v<version #>	Shows up to 3 versions that are detected most often If more versions are detected, they are included in Others. The most frequently detected version shows below the chart, while its percentage of total installations shows in the center. Hover over a section to view details about each detected version.

• Application Policies: lists all active Required Applications policies and Application Resilience policies associated with the application, along with the version requirement for each policy

To close the dialog, click its icon.
