Resending messages

In Action Requests, you can use the Resend Message feature to quickly resend a Send Message request to one or more devices.

When you resend a message, you will need to reconfigure the message settings. You can also edit the message title, image, and message content, if desired.

You can't use the Resend Message feature to send a message to a device that did not receive the original message. If you want to reuse messages in future Send Message requests, it's good practice to save your messages to the Message library.

To resend a message:

  1. Log in to the Secure Endpoint Console as a user with the Perform permission for End User Messaging.
  2. On the navigation bar, click History > Action Requests.
  3. On the Action Requests sidebar, click the applicable request to open it in the work area. To find the specific request, do one or more of the following:

    • Select Send Message from the Actions drop-down to filter by type of action.
    • Select an option from the Created drop-down to filter by the date the requests were created. Options vary from Past 7 days to Past 90 days.

When the Created drop-down is used to filter the list of requests, actions in Done are filtered by the date the Device Action requests were created, not by the date they were completed.

    • Click to expand the Search field and enter one of the following:

      • The request name
      • The last name of the requester
      • The message name

The search results update dynamically as you type. To clear the Search field, click .

If multiple devices were included in the request, each device shows in the grid.

  4. Select each device that you want to resend the message to and click Re-send message.
  5. [Optional] At the top of the dialog, click Message - <date> and enter a request name that will help you identify and track this request in Action Requests.
  6. [Optional] Click Add description (optional) and enter a description for the request.
  7. Under Schedule message, select an option. If you select On or after a certain date, click the fields and select the date and time of day (local device time A date and time expressed in a device's local time zone, as opposed to server time. In the console, local device time applies to usage data collected from devices, and the scheduling of some device action requests.) to show the message.
  8. Edit the image, message text, and settings, as required.
  9. Click Preview and review your message to confirm that it will display to users as expected. Click (Back) to exit preview mode.

  10. When you're done, click Send.

A new Send Message request is submitted for the selected devices and an End user message requested event is logged to Event History.
