Creating folders
A folder provides visibility into a collection of folders and device groups. You can open the folder to see all devices in the collection. Folders are available for selection when you're selecting device groups to perform a device action on.
The icon indicates a folder.

You can use two types of folders to organize your devices:
- Standalone: the folder is not part of a another folder and resides at the highest level in the hierarchy.
- Child: the folder is contained in a another folder.
To add a new folder:
- Log in to the Secure Endpoint Console with Manage permissions for Device Groups and folders.
- On the navigation bar, click
Devices.

Do one of the following:
- To add a top level folder, click
next to Device Groups on the Devices sidebar and click
New folder.
- To add a child folder under another folder, click the parent folder on the Devices sidebar, and then click
(Add folder) on the action toolbar. If you are adding the folder to an empty folder, you can also click
Add folder in the work area.
A new folder named Folder - <date stamp> is created.
- To add a top level folder, click

Click in the name or description fields and update the fields. Press Enter, click
(Save Changes), or click outside the field to save the new name or description. Click
(Cancel Changes) to discard your changes.
The name can be up to 80 characters. The description can be up to 250 characters.
The new folder shows on the Device Groups sidebar. You can add devices to the folder by adding a smart group or a static group. You can add another folder to continue organizing your devices.

You can perform the following tasks on a folder:
- View the list of devices included in the folder's device groups
- View device information for a device
- Edit the folder's name and description
- Export the list of devices in the folder
- Move the folder
- Delete the folder

Depending on the permissions associated with your user role, some folder functionality may not be available.
