Editing custom field data
You can populate some of a device's custom fields by entering data values in the fields. You can also update data values for a group of devices at once.
The Has Service Guarantee custom field is not editable. To update the field for one or more devices, use the Change License action to assign or remove a license that includes the Service Guarantee.
You can't update a device's custom field values if the device has a status of Reported Stolen.
To assign custom field values to an individual device:
- Log in to the Secure Endpoint Console as a user with Manage permissions for Device Fields.

On the device's Device Details page, click

Edit custom field values.If the action is grayed out, one of the following conditions applies:
- The action isn't supported on the device's operating system
- A license upgrade is required to request the action
- The device's Agent status The operating condition of a device's Secure Endpoint Agent. Possible values are Active (indicates that the device's agent has connected to the Absolute Monitoring Center), Inactive (indicates one of the following: the device was moved to another account; the device was unenrolled, but it is now set to be reactivated; or the device had Persistence enabled at the factory, but it has not yet called in to the Absolute Monitoring Center), and Disabled (indicates that the agent is either flagged for removal or removed from the unenrolled device). Inactive and Disabled devices do not consume a license. is set to Disabled or Inactive
The Edit custom field values dialog opens showing all fixed and user-defined custom fields associated with your account, along with any values currently assigned to this device. To remove all currently assigned values, click Clear all values.
- For each custom field you want to update, enter or select a value to assign to the device. To quickly find a custom field, enter all or part of the field name in the Search field.

When a custom field value is updated, a Custom field updated event is logged to Event History.
You can assign custom field values to multiple devices at once.
You can't update a device's custom field values if the device has a status of Reported Stolen.
To assign custom field values to multiple devices:
- Log in to the Secure Endpoint Console as a user with Manage permissions for Device Fields.

From the navigation bar, open a page or report that supports the Edit custom field values action.
For example, click
Devices to open the Devices > All Devices page, or click
Reports to open the Reports page and click Devices with Active Policies under Device. - In the results grid, select the devices you want to update:
- To quickly find devices, use the search field or filters in the work area.
- To select all devices, select the Select All checkbox in the result grid header.
- To select consecutive devices, select the first device and then hold down the Shift key and select the last device.
- To remove all selections, click Clear all.

[Optional] To review the current custom field values assigned to the selected devices, click View existing values next to a custom field. The Existing values dialog opens.

By default, devices are grouped by custom field value, with the number of devices assigned to each value shown. To view the devices assigned to a value, expand the value's row.

To group the data by individual device instead, click the Group by value slider to disable it.

To quickly find a device and its assigned custom field value, enter all or part of the device name in the Search field.

To return to the Edit custom field values dialog, click

For each custom field you want to update, enter or select a value to assign to the selected devices. To quickly find a custom field, enter all or part of the field name in the Search field.
Updating a custom field value replaces its existing value on all selected devices. -

When a custom field value is updated, a Custom field updated event is logged to Event History.
