Viewing devices in policy groups
This topic applies to version 1 of the Policy Groups feature.
You can open a policy group and see the list of devices associated with it.
To view the devices in a policy group:
-
Log in to the Secure Endpoint Console as a user with View or Manage permissions for Policies and Licenses.
- On the navigation bar, click Policies > Policy Groups.
-
On the Policy Groups sidebar, search for and then click the policy group that you want to view. The policy group's Devices page opens to show the list of devices associated with the policy group in the results grid.
By default, only those devices with an Agent Status of Active show in the results grid. To view the list of Disabled and Inactive devices that are associated with the policy group, go to the Devices page, remove the Agent Status filter, and add the Policy Group Name column to the report.
The following information shows on this page:
- Name and description of the policy group
-
Agent Version: the version of the Secure Endpoint Agent assigned to the policy group
The agent version is always the current version unless automatic agent updates are disabled for your account in Agent Management. If your user role is granted Manage permissions for Version Control, you can click the agent version to go to the Agent Management page.
- License Enforcement: indicates whether your account's license agreement defines a number of available licenses, which can't be exceeded. Possible values are Enabled and Disabled. Note that license enforcement is typically enabled for standard license agreements, and disabled for Enterprise License Agreements and Site Licenses.
- Offline Freeze Rule: indicates whether the policy group is assigned to an activated Offline Freeze rule. Possible values are None, Active, and Inactive.
Information about each device is organized in the following columns:
- Identifier The unique Electronic Serial Number (ESN) assigned to the Secure Endpoint Agent that is installed on a device.
- Agent status The operating condition of a device's Secure Endpoint Agent. Possible values are Active (indicates that the device's agent has connected to the Absolute Monitoring Center), Inactive (indicates one of the following: the device was moved to another account; the device was unenrolled, but it is now set to be reactivated; or the device had Persistence enabled at the factory, but it has not yet called in to the Absolute Monitoring Center), and Disabled (indicates that the agent is either flagged for removal or removed from the unenrolled device). Inactive and Disabled devices do not consume a license.
- Username Username of the user who was logged in to the device when an agent connection occurred. If no user was logged in during the most recent agent connection, the last detected username shows. If you are viewing a report and want to see if a user was logged in during the most recent connection, add the Current Username column to the report. If no user was logged in at the time of the connection, "No Data" or two em dashes (— —) show in the column.
- Device name The name assigned to the device in the operating system. For Chromebooks, device name is not applicable and therefore shows as "Chrome" in the Secure Endpoint Console.
- Make The manufacturer of a device.
- Model The manufacturer's designated name for the type of device.
- Serial number The identification number assigned to the device by the device manufacturer. For Windows devices, this value may correspond to the serial number of the BIOS, the motherboard, or the chassis, depending on the manufacturer.
- Platform type The name of the device platform, such as Windows, Mac, or Chrome.
- Activation date A field and report column that shows the date and time that the device completed its first check-in to the Absolute Monitoring Center and the device's Secure Endpoint Agent was activated.
- Last connected The date and time when a device's Secure Endpoint Agent last checked in to the Absolute Monitoring Center.
- Added to policy group The date and time when the device was added to the policy group that it currently belongs to.
