File types scanned during an EDD scan

During an EDD scan, the DAR component A lightweight software component of the Absolute agent that detects at-risk data stored on a Windows or Mac device during an EDD scan. The DAR component is deployed on a device only when the device is associated with a policy group in which the Endpoint Data Discovery policy is activated. of the Absolute agent has the ability to search for and detect specific file types (such as spreadsheets and word processing documents) on the hard drives of your devices. These files are then opened and their content scanned to determine if specific information is present, such as credit card or US Social Security numbers.

The following table provides a list of the specific file types that the component can detect and analyze for content.
