Secure Endpoint Agent release notes - Version 7.6 hotfixes

If automatic agent updates are disabled, you can assign an agent version to your account's Windows and Mac devices to prevent agent upgrades. To determine if you want to assign a particular agent version, review this topic to learn about the enhancements and fixes supported in each version of the Secure Endpoint Agent.

About the Secure Endpoint Agent

The Secure Endpoint Agent is a small software client that resides on devices that are managed in the Secure Endpoint Console. After the agent is initially installed on a new device, the agent is activated with the first connection to the Absolute Monitoring Center.

Each agent package includes software specific to its supported operating system, including the agent and its associated components, an installer, and a readme file.

System requirements

The 7.6.0.x package bundles contain Secure Endpoint Agent software that support devices running the following operating systems:

Operating system Supported versions
Windows Versions 7, 8, 8.1, and 10
macOS Versions 10.9 to 10.14

Agent improvements and fixes

The following improvements and fixes are available in each agent version:

Depending on the configuration of your account, some of the following agent versions may not be available.

Version Platform Fixes and improvements
7.6.0.1 Windows
  • To minimize CPU usage on Windows devices, the Secure Endpoint Agent now performs Hardware Data Collection (HDP) scans less frequently.

When hardware change events occur on a device, the agent now scans the device no more than once every two hours. Each scan captures all of the events that occurred since the last scan. If the Secure Endpoint Agent doesn't detect any change events over the past two hours, no scan is performed.

Previously, the agent scanned the device after each hardware change event, which in some cases may have negatively impacted the device's performance.

7.6.0.2 Windows
  • Previously, if your environment's firewall or proxy settings blocked access to Certificate Revocation List (CRL) URL sites, certificate validation failed and the Secure Endpoint Agent was unable to collect Anti-Malware and Full-Disk Encryption data from a device. With this fix, certificates are now validated even if the CRL site is unavailable.
