Web Subscriptions report
The Web Subscriptions report helps you understand the return on investment of your current subscriptions to the websites visited by your users. After you've set up the report by adding details about your current subscriptions, the report allows you to compare the usage of a website against the cost of the website's subscription.
The report's default reporting period is set to Year to date, but you can change it to last 30 days or last 90 days.
On the Reports page, you can access this report from Absolute view or the Events category.

To set up the Web Subscriptions report and view data in it, the Web Usage policy needs to be activated on your devices. Note that the report shows return on investment information based on the web activity detected in the Chrome browser on supported Windows

To view the Web Subscriptions report and manage subscription information, your user role needs to be granted Manage permissions for Web Subscriptions. All default Administrator user roles are granted these permissions.

Set up the Web Subscriptions report by adding subscription information for the websites detected on your devices.
The Web Subscriptions report uses the data collected from your devices to generate the list of websites that you can track. If you recently activated the Web Usage policy, it may take up to 24 hours for the list of visited websites to be available in the console. Note that you may need to wait longer to add some subscriptions if users have not yet visited a particular website.
To set up the report:
- On the Reports page, click Events under Categories.
- Click Web Subscriptions to open the report's setup page.
- Use the month and day fields to specify the start date of your school year or fiscal year.
-
To add subscription information for a website:
- Under Subscription, click Add another.
- Click the Website field and select a website from the list. You can only select from the websites that have been detected on your devices. If you expect a website to be listed and it's not, check back in a few days after users have had a chance to access the website.
- If there is a cost associated with the subscription for this website, click the Subscription field and select Per User or Site License.
-
Depending on the subscription type, do one of the following:
- If you left the Subscription field set to Free, go to step 5.
-
If you selected the Per User option:
- Click the Cost per license field and enter the amount paid for a single license.
- Click the Number of licenses field and enter the total number of purchased licenses.
-
If you selected the Site License option:
- Click the Cost per site field and enter the amount paid for a single site license.
- Click the Number of licenses field and enter the total number of purchased licenses.
- Click the Expected number of users field and enter the number of users that you expect to visit this website.
- Repeat step 4 for each subscription that you want to report on.
- To remove a subscription, click its
icon.
- When you're done managing the subscriptions, click Create. The Web Subscriptions report shows. Note that it may take a few minutes to process the report data after adding subscription information.

From time to time, you will need to update the details about your current website subscriptions, such as the annual cost and the number of purchased licenses. You may also want to add or remove subscriptions.
To manage the report's subscription information, click > Manage Subscriptions on the Web Subscriptions report. For more information about editing the fields, see Setting up the report. When you're done, click Apply. Note that it may take a few minutes to process the report data after adding subscription information.
You can also add websites to the report from the Web Usage report.

By default, the following filter is used to generate this report:
Time period is Year to date
Year to date uses the start date set in step 2 in Setting up the report.
To change the reporting period, click the Time period filter, remove Year to date from the field, and select one of the following options:
- Last 30 days
- Last 90 days
Note that the Time period filter can't be removed.
You can also create a customized version of the report by adding filters. For example, to view the websites with less than 2.5 hours of usage over the past 30 days, set the following filters:
- Time period is Last 30 days
- Average usage less than 2h:30m
