Hosting Application Resilience installers on third-party platforms
If you selected Report, repair, and reinstall while configuring an Application Resilience policy, you may want to host the application's installer through a third-party hosting service. Use the following information to ensure that the installer is hosted in a way that is compatible with Application Resilience.

Set the Link access to Anyone.
Do not enable password protection for the link.
- Make sure that Disable downloads is off. See Disable downloads for a shared link for more information.
-
Add the query parameter dl=1 to the end of the link. This forces a browser to download the contents of the link. For example:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/908j4eqeftb2uwd/anyconnect-win-4.4.03034-core-vpn-predeploy-k9.msi?dl=1.

Make sure that Block download is off.
-
Add &download=1 to the end of the URL. For example:
https://acme-my.sharepoint.com/:u:/g/abt/acme_onmicrosoft_com/EcBl6Son70RFp7zUlEaLtT0Bd2lrCobCkfdl1mLluemLlu?e=tG0pYz&download=1
-
Use the resulting URL in Location of the <application> installer.

In order to create a shareable link using Microsoft SharePoint, your SharePoint user needs to have permission to create and edit Sites.
To create a shareable link:
- Go to Sites in SharePoint Admin Center.
- Under Default sharing link type, clear Same as organization-level and select Anyone with the link.
- Set the expiration status to Never expire.
- Turn on Edit permission.

Box doesn't allow files with the extension EXE or MSI to have links that can be shared. Given this limitation, the only application that can be hosted through Box is Microsoft SCCM, as its installer has to be wrapped as a ZIP file for it to be supported by Application Resilience.
To create a shareable link
- Follow the steps outlined on the Box support site to create a shareable link for your uploaded installer.
-
Set the link access to People with the link and Can view and download.
Do not enable password protection for the link.
-
Copy the URL and use it in Location of the Microsoft SCCM Endpoint installer. Your URL should be in the following format:
https://app.box.com/shared/static/bcsdqhc72oqelwntcviy409o7sqc16si.zip
Anyone with access to the shareable URL is able to download the hosted installer.
